Snowdonia Paths

Snowdon range has 11 peaks over 600m in height, 3 are over 914m (3000 ft).

The massif forms a cluster of 5 peaks, linked by sharp ridges.
The main heights in their starfish formation are:-

Y Wyddfa (Snowdon) 3560 ft.the central peak or great tomb
Crib-y-Ddysgl 3493 ft ½ miles N, skirted by Llanberis path
Crib Goch 3023 ft.the red ridge, 1½ miles NE
Lliwedd 2947 ft. long craggy ridge running SE with a rock-wal
Y Aran 2451 ft. the outlying S peak, forming a spur towards Beddgelert.

Access points to the range are from Llanberis on the A4086, Pen y Pass at the top of the Pass, and all way round to beyond Beddgelert on the A4085. A regular shuttle bus serves the Llanberis pass up to Pen-y-Pass from the coastal towns to the northwest. The Snowdon Sherpa bus can be used if two routes with different start/end points are combined .

The top of Snowdon is rarely clear of clouds, but when it is there is a fine vista with the Wicklow Mountains of Ireland and the Isle of Man visible. Wear suitable clothing as the summit is much cooler than sea level.
The webcam gives local weather conditions. Looking South East, the web cam shows 3 of the 14 mountains in North Wales over 3,000 feet high. From left to right these are Crib Goch, Crib y Ddysgl and Snowdon, the highest at 3,560 feet (1,085 metres). The image is updated automatically every two hours between 06.00 and 22.00. There is also an excellent Snowdon weather data service, recording the weather and climate conditions on Snowdon every minute, every day summer and winter.
